The Marian Anderson Award & Astral Artistic Services present the fourth annual Marian Anderson Prize for Emerging Classical Artists.
The Prize is created to support significantly talented, classically trained singers whoare beginning their professional careers, and was inspired by the example of the manyindividuals who provided vital assistance to contralto Marian Anderson as she beganher own artistic journey.
- 1st Prize – $6,000
- 2nd Prize – $3,000
- 3rd Prize – $1,000
The Panel reserves the right not to award any or all prizes.
Auditions
Preliminary Auditions: Friday, November 4, 2005
Final Auditions: Saturday, November 5, 2005
Both audition rounds are held in Rock Hall at Temple University, Philadelphia.
Awards Presentation & Prize Recital
Friday, December 2, 2005, 8:00pm at the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia
All winners appear in the Prize Recital:
- The 1st-Prize winner must be prepared to perform a 30-minute recital program.
- The 2nd- & 3rd-Prize winners must be prepared to perform a 15-minute recital program.
All applicants must be available for the Prize Recital on December 2. Illness (certified by a written doctor’s excuse) will be the only accepted reason for not participating in the Prize Recital.
